Channel 4 Homes - DIY lateral restraint technology

When Sarah Beeny encountered a bulging wall on the popular TV series Help My House Is Falling Down, Channel 4 researchers turned to Twistfix to source the latest in wall tie technology in a search for a reliable lateral restraint solution.

Lateral restraint ties are fitted from outside the property with minimum disturbance. The House-holder simply has to lift a few floorboards to determine the position of the joists and to ensure wires or pipes that may be hidden are avoided during tie installation.  Each Lateral restraint tie has a clever drill like leading end for cutting into softwood joists that run parallel to the wall.  Using a drill, the lateral restraint ties are quickly and easily screwed into at least two timber joists and a resin fix is applied to the masonry end.  Work is carried out extremely quickly and effectively - saving Home-owners thousands of pounds in the process.
