Twistfix Bestsellers: WHO-60 Masonry Repair Grout

Repairing and reinforcing masonry is a heavy-duty process and often requires the use of helical stitching bars and rods. Keeping these crucial elements in place is also a tough job and requires a strong, reliable and highly effective grout. In this regard, there is no better product than WHO-60.

Though it is often used as an adhesive for fixing brick slips to walls, the primary purpose of WHO-60 masonry repair grout is to securely bond metal anchors and bars into block, brick or stone structures. The formula has been tested independently multiple times, most notably by the BRE in its 'test program of retrofit bed joint reinforcement systems for forming deep masonry beams with retrofit helical bars'. As a result of these tests, BRE load tables apply solely to projects carried out using WHO-60.

As a cement-based, polymer-modified mortar, WHO-60 is renowned for delivering impressive strength when fully cured. The formula includes cutting-edge polymers to dramatically improve its adhesive quality, provide a notable reduction of water evaporation rates and restrain the propagation of cracks. This allows the crystalline structure of the grout to continue growing and increasing its strength, as evidenced by the following figures.

After 28 days at an average temperature of 20°C, WHO-60 masonry grout achieves:

  • Compressive strength: 55 N/mm²
  • Flexural strength: 12 N/mm²
  • Tensile strength: 5 N/mm²
  • Young's modulus: 13 N/mm²

WHO-60 is supplied as a two-part product, comprising liquid and powder components. Mixing details are provided below. As it is a thixotropic formula, applying stress (such as stirring) increases its viscosity, ensuring that it can be easily applied with a trowel or gun. For best results, use the Groutmaster tool, which is also available to purchase from Twistfix.

Mixing Instructions

  • Place one pack of powder component (part A) into a suitable vessel.
  • With the use of a powered paddle mixer, blend three-quarters of the liquid component (part B) with the powder until smooth and cohesive.
  • To achieve the desired consistency, blend in the remaining liquid.
  • Continue mixing for a minimum of five minutes.
  • The formula should remain workable for up to half an hour. Re-agitation can restore the original consistency.
  • Never add water or any other substance to the mixture.

Each bucket of WHO-60 from Twistfix contains two packs of the powder component and two bottles of the liquid component. We can supply the buckets singly or, for the best cost-effectiveness, on pallets containing 48 units. WHO-60 is also available as part of our comprehensive helical bar kits.
