Twistfix Bestsellers: The Damp Check Mesh Membrane Kit
With damp having so many different causes, there are myriad ways in which to remedy the problem and Twistfix can supply all of them. Though all of these methods are highly effective, there is an even better method and that is to avoid the issues before they even happen!
One of the ways in which to do this is by using our Damp Check Mesh Membrane Kit. As it is so effective and is priced so competitively, you will not be surprised to learn that this exceptional product is a stalwart on the Twistfix Bestsellers list. In this edition of our blog, we will be showcasing the kit and the many advantages and benefits it provides.
One of the things that makes our Damp Check Kit so popular is its versatility when isolating damp walls from the internal finishes that are so vulnerable to the damage that moisture can cause. Perfect to prevent damp in all sorts of settings, the kit contents facilitate the fast and easy creation of a permanent moisture barrier. Often used following the installation of a remedial damp proof course, the kit is also especially useful when waterproofing showers, bathrooms and wet rooms.
The kit centres on a 10-metre roll of tanking membrane. One side of the membrane features stand off studs; air gaps between these studs are designed to allow walls to naturally 'breathe'. On the reverse, a mesh face stops walls from getting damp by allowing water to drain harmlessly and efficiently away. The mesh face is also able to accept dot-and-dab dry lining, cement renders and tile adhesive. Boasting superb flexibility, the tanking membrane can be easily bent around awkward corners for a seamless finish.
Installing mesh membrane is easy and begins with the drilling of anchor holes. The membrane is simply attached to the wall using the provided hammer-in plugs, which will fit perfectly into the pre drilled anchor holes. The next step is to securely seal all joints; this is achieved with the use of strong butyl rubber tape, a roll of which is included within the kit. Finally, plasterboard sheets, tiles or plaster can be applied directly on top of the mesh.
