Dual Action Patio Sealant

Product description

Dual Action Patio Sealant uses a speciality fluorocarbon-based polymer to deliver excellent stain and water repellency to porous mineral substrates, whilst retaining the natural substrate appearance. These properties reduce the amount of cleaning and maintenance needed for patios, driveways, walkways, and brickwork.

Typical uses

• Primarily used for stain protection of porous mineral substrates where the substrate appearance needs to remain the same.
• Internal concrete floors.
• Patios made of the following:
  • Natural stone (sandstone, limestone, etc)
  • Concrete (slabs, imprinted, etc.)
  • Brick

Substrate Preparation:

• Ensure substrates are clean and dry, to do this:
  • Use a stiff bristled brush to remove any loose material from the surface of the substrate
  • Apply Siloxol Wood & Patio Cleaner according to instructions to remove any moss, lichens and algae which may be present.
  • Wash off with a hose and stiff bristled brush again.
  • Leave to dry for a minimum of 24 hours if conditions are good, longer if the outside temperature is below 15 °C.
  • If substrate is damp or unclean the product will not work correctly and may require mechanical removal after it has cured.

Mixing

• No mixing is required. It is recommended to shake the container gently before use.

Application

• Ensure substrate is at least 8 °C and rain is not forecast for the next 8 hours.
• Use a brush, roller or spray.
• Apply a coat of the product which saturates the substrate, but avoids pooling.
• Leave to soak into substrate and apply second coat once touch dry (usually between 15 and 45 minutes in favourable conditions).
• Apply a lighter 2nd coat, avoid saturating the substrate and ensure any pooling liquid is removed before it is allowed to dry (no longer than 45 minutes after application).
• If liquid is left on the surface to dry it cannot be removed.

Conditions and Limitations

• Substrate and air temperature of between 8 and 30 °C during application and for at least 24 hours after application.
• Do not use on low porosity substrates, i.e. marble, granite, or slate.

Curing

• In favourable conditions (20 DegC, 50% RH):
  • 2nd coat will be touch dry in 2 hours.
  • Rain-proof after 6 hours.
  • Light traffic after 8 hours (walking etc.), although leave 24 hours if possible.
  • Avoid pooling of water for 24 hours.
  • Full cure 5 days – at this point stain resistance has been fully reached.
• If conditions are colder or more humid these timings will be longer

Cleaning Equipment

• Use warm, clean water to wash tools and containers before the product is allowed to dry.

Storage and shelf life

Store in a sealed container, in temperatures between 5°C and 30°C, protected from frost and direct sunlight. Shelf life is 12 months when unopened, undamaged and stored correctly.
